Flávio Bolsonaro (PL) announced a new campaign slogan “um novo presidente para um novo Brasil” as part of the second‑round strategy, positioning himself as renewal against President Lula. The announcement occurred during an event with allied governors in Brasília, where a plaque displayed the phrase.
According to CNN Brasil political analyst Jussara Soares, the slogan derives from the first‑round vote analysis, both Flávio’s own tally and the performance of gubernatorial candidates aligned with his political field. The move seeks to contrast Flávio, 45, with Lula, 80, framing the latter as continuation of an outdated model. The petista campaign, by contrast, emphasizes Lula’s experience to confront difficult moments, including geopolitical challenges.
The event did not present concrete policy outlines linked to the promise of renewal. While the visual element “novo Brasil” was highlighted, the campaign has not disclosed how the slogan translates into specific programs or budgetary commitments. Meanwhile, Lula prepared to resume street actions, with a walk in Ceilândia on 9 May and another in Natal on 10 May, alongside local PT candidates, underscoring the divergent tactical approaches of the two contests.
The absence of detailed proposals leaves voters without a clear benchmark to assess the claimed renewal. As the second round approaches, the question remains which concrete agenda will accompany the slogan and how the electorate will evaluate the contrast between “novo Brasil” and the incumbent’s experience‑based narrative.
